In a world of reality TV, fast food and multiplex cinemas, Spellbound in Potton exists to celebrate the world of live performance.  We aim to bring high quality, nationally recognised performers and theatre companies to a local audience.

Spellbound in Potton was founded in 2005 by a group of friends who recognised the lack of professional entertainment in the area.  Our first event, supported by Mid Beds District Council, coincided with the turning on of the Potton Christmas lights and was a sell out.  Since then we have held a variety of events from puppet shows to physical theatre and stand-up poetry to spine chilling ghost stories.

Spellbound in Potton events are always carefully chosen - so you know that when you see our name you will be in for an evening of good entertainment.  We are very pleased that through the hard work of everyone on the team we can afford to book such talented performers. Our aim is to appeal to a wide audience and each season we will introduce new acts for young audiences and adults.  By doing so, we also hope to raise the “community spirit” in Potton.

We are currently basing the live acts at St Mary’s Church Hall in Potton.  This provides us with space for an audience of around 80 people, plus good catering facilities. We hope to work with the St Mary’s Hall Management Committee to enhance the facilities at the hall for live performances which, in turn, will benefit other groups and users of this excellent venue.

To add to the live events we have developed a “travelling” café which serves fresh and locally sourced food and drink at reasonable prices. Typically, we offer homemade pizza, soup and snacks like homemade sandwiches, hummus and dips.  We offer local beer at our bar and will be introducing a range of local ice cream during 2008. The focus is on enjoyable, rustic, but healthy food.  We also serve delicious home-made cakes that are made by one of our team!  The Lemon Drizzle Cake is “to die for”!

We would like each Spellbound event to be a whole evening’s entertainment with good food and great company - as well as the main event.
